Product Overview
This program is about minimally invasive, tailored diagnosis and therapy for prostate disease management. The American Cancer Society (ACS) reports that prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind lung cancer. Further, about 1 man in 7 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime and 1 man in 38 will die of prostate cancer, accounting for over 27, 540 deaths in the United States (U.S.). Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men, with 220,800 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in 2015. Bernadette Greenwood, Clinical Product Manager of Oncology at Invivo in Gainesville, Florida, discusses an advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and MR-guided prostate biopsy technique. By the end of this program, the participant should be able to: 1. Restate the current standard of care for prostate disease. 2. Discuss the role of MR imaging in prostate biopsy procedures. 3. Contrast MR-guided biopsy with ultrasound-guided biopsies of the prostate. 4. Recognize standard terminology used to discuss MR safety. 5. Describe the importance of labeling on MR implants and devices.
